Last year Isabel Hospice supported 1,400 patients and their families through their team of 180 staff and 650 volunteers. Their services enable people to access the support and care they need to live well for as long as possible and die with dignity in the place of their choice. Like most Hospices they rely on the income generated from their extensive fundraising activities and network of charity shops for the majority of our funding, generating over £3.5m last year, and this will need to continue to grow as they seek to extend their service to support even more people.
They have ambitious plans, including a new building on the horizon, and are looking for dynamic individuals to join our volunteer Board of Trustees. You’ll be using your skills and experience to guide the direction of the charity through exciting times, providing oversight and governance, contributing to its strategic direction and acting as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.
A number of Trustee retirements are happening this year and we are particularly interested to hear from people with a background and experience in one of the following areas: finance, legal, HR, clinical especially a Nurse/GP/Consultant, digital, retail, fundraising, or local authority.
No experience of hospice care is required and you do not have to have held a trustee role previously – knowledge you have gained from other sectors or roles may be just as useful. We will invest in your induction and training including a number of evening workshops sessions and a buddy system with an existing trustee.
Isabel are holding two Open Evenings as an opportunity to introduce you to their important work, to meet current Trustees and senior staff and to find out more about what’s involved. The dates and times are:-
